MEDICAL CONSIDERATIONS

While these plant and animal medicines are generally safe for most people, there are certain individuals who should not participate—or should only do so with caution and medical clearance from our team or their own physician.

Contraindications & Medical Considerations

This retreat includes opportunities to participate in ceremonies involving psilocybin and a tepezcohuite-derived DMT preparation referred to as Satori. Participation in all ceremonies is entirely voluntary.

For the safety and well-being of all participants, it is important to carefully review the following medical and psychological considerations prior to attending. Certain conditions, medications, or health histories may make participation unsafe or inappropriate.

You may not be eligible to participate in ceremony if you:

  • Are unable to discontinue certain medications prior to and during the retreat, when medically appropriate and approved by your prescribing physician. Some medications may be compatible, and participants will have the opportunity to discuss this confidentially with retreat support staff if needed.

  • Have a history of schizophrenia, psychosis, hallucinations, dissociative disorders, bipolar disorder, or other severe psychiatric conditions.

  • Have an active addiction or physical dependence involving alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, or other substances that may create withdrawal or safety concerns.

  • Have serious cardiovascular conditions including, but not limited to, a history of heart attack, cardiac stents, arrhythmia, pacemaker use, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or other significant heart-related conditions.

  • Have serious liver disease or impaired liver function.

  • Have a history of stroke, brain hemorrhage, aneurysm, seizures, or blood clots.

  • Are currently pregnant, attempting to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

  • Have undergone chemotherapy or radiation treatment within the past four weeks.

  • Have any medical, psychiatric, or neurological condition that could be intensified or negatively affected by participation in ceremony, fasting, emotional processing, breathwork, or altered states of consciousness.

By attending this retreat, you acknowledge that you are responsible for consulting with your physician, psychiatrist, therapist, or other qualified healthcare provider regarding your participation and any medications or health conditions that may present risks.

By checking the acknowledgment box during registration, you confirm that you have read and understood these contraindications and medical considerations and that you accept full responsibility for disclosing any relevant medical or psychological conditions that could impact your safety or participation.
